Water safety brochures to be distributed on reef boats to Chinese tourists

As a part of Chinese New Year celebrations all reef boats travelling out of Cairns will be issued with a multi-lingual brochure telling Chinese tourists how to keep safe while out on the reef.

The brochure was made after figures from the Coroner's office revealed a disproportionate number of water-related deaths involved Chinese nationals.

The distribution of the brochure is funded by the University of Queensland's Confucius Institute which exists to strengthen Australian-China relations.
